Online Holiday Show – Time Capsule: A Theatrical History of Spindrift School

Welcome to Time Capsule: A Theatrical History of Spindrift School! From the classic shuffling found in Singin in the Rain to the kooky world sung to life in Seussical, this review-style production will explore the magic of musical theatre through a retrospective of Spindrift School’s theatrical history. Working with Master Teaching Artists across SSPA’s talented staff, students have the opportunity to learn and perform pieces from shows such as Pippin!, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Annie, The Drowsy Chaperone, and many more! We will sing, dance, and act our way through SSPA’s timeline, highlighting the incredible talent of our students along the way.

During the creative process for Time Capsule, students will meet for three hours each week via the interactive Zoom online platform, collaborating in large, small, and sometimes private sessions with SSPA instructors to hone technique and rehearse songs, scenes, and dances. In some instances, students will write original text to be performed and included in the final production. At the end of the rehearsal period, students will create performance videos with guidance from the production’s artistic leadership. Joining the students filmed work with that of past Spindrift School production videos, the result will be a final musical theatre film that will serve as a collection of memories that represent not only where SSPA has been, but where we are right now.

Two evenings of screenings for the Spindrift School community and invited guests will make this moment a highlight of the year, in true Spindrift School Holiday Show tradition. In order to make this opportunity as accessible as possible to our families during this time, the fee for participation is by sliding scale. We ask only that you choose the option that best represents your means. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of the history of Spindrift School.
