Theatre at SSPA is far from run-of-the-mill; grounded in the natural pursuit of play, our theatre classes build the skills, discipline and confidence that will not only support a student on stage, but in life in general. From ensemble building to the creative demands of improvisation, even the most timid students of theatre leave our classes having found their voice.

We offer leveled classes in Theatre and Improvisation to students ages 5 – 18. In addition, we offer Performance classes throughout the year that culminate in a staged production, from musical theatre shows to comedic or dramatic work. In Spindrift’s leveled classes, students work toward discipline specific benchmarks. 2022 marks the launch of our pre-professional “Spindrift Theatre Conservatory” which will develop skills applicable in all of the arts as well as life.

SSPA Theatre Conservatory

Ages 10+

Our Conservatory (started Spring of 2022) is for actors looking to take the next step in their theatrical training. This program will start in the fall and span all the way until the end of the school year in May of 2023. This is a pre-professional program that focuses on deepening our student’s understanding of every aspect of theatre; from acting to technical theatre to theatre appreciation. We bring in special guests (such as notable equity actors and other specialists) to help lend perspective and wisdom from their fields. We introduce scene work from some of the great playwrights through history, offer technical theatre master classes that go into light design, sound mixing, costume design, prop creation and much more. We explore other things such as; Shakespeare, Stage Combat and Accent/Dialect.
