Graduates of Spindrift School are notoriously well-rounded performers, and much of that stems from involvement in our musical theatre program. However, these classes do so much more than produce the enviable “triple threat”; they cultivate a love of music, movement and language all while creating friendships that often last a lifetime.
Intro to Musical Theatre – “Trolls!”
Ages 4-7. Students learn the basics of musical theatre as they sing and dance their way through their favorite songs from Trolls. Best of all, they’ll be able to show off their new skills in a final performance for friends and family. 17 Classes, No Class 2/26, 4/23
Musical Theatre 1 – “Trolls!” (Ages 5-8)
Students learn the basics of musical theatre as they sing and dance their way through their favorite songs from Trolls. Students who love to sing and dance are introduced to a group experience and performance! 17 Classes, No Class 2/26, 4/23. Consistent attendance is required.
Musical Theatre II – “Zombies” (Ages 7-10)
Students learn more complex elements of musical theatre performance from developing a character, song interpretation, dialogue, and group movement. A casual presentation for friends and family at the end of the session allows students to share their new skills. Zombies creates the perfect opportunity to go beyond the basics. 18 Weeks. No Class on 2/21, 4/18 Consistent attendance is required.
Musical Theatre II – “Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory!” (Ages 10+)
This beginning/intermediate level class allows older students to both learn and then begin to push their musical theatre skills to new heights. In MT II scene work is introduced along with Choreography and vocals. Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory creates the perfect opportunity to go beyond the basics, all culminating in a final performance for friends and family. 18 Classes. No Class 2/23, 4/20. Consistent attendance is required.
Musical Theatre III – “Beetlejuice!”
(Ages 11+ with pre-reqs.)
Class Prerequisites: Completed a Minimum of two sessions of Musical Theatre II and/or Spotlight Stars Summer Camp. Students get ready to join the big leagues as they refine their musical theatre skills and take the final steps toward being ready to audition for our full-length Winter and Spring Show productions. This session, Beetlejuice will push students toward pre-professional status, all culminating in a final showing for friends and family. Meets 2x a week. Classes are 1.5 hrs. 36 Classes including tech and performances, No Class on 2/21, 2/23, 4/18, 4/20
Musical Theatre Jazz Dance
(Class not offered this session – Winter/Spring 2022)
Class Description: Dancers explore the elements of style, rhythm, and character dance commonly found in Musical Theatre, exploring specific genres and working with the songs of Musical Theatre performance.
