Graduates of Spindrift School are notoriously well-rounded performers, and much of that stems from involvement in our musical theatre program. However, these classes do so much more than produce the enviable “triple threat”; they cultivate a love of music, movement and language all while creating friendships that often last a lifetime.

Intro to Musical Theatre ages 4-7 “Madagascar!”

Students learn the basics of musical theatre performance, from expressing character to basic musical theatre movement and choreography through the songs and narrative of “Madagascar!”. A casual presentation for friends and family at the end of the session allows students to share their new skills. This class is offered 2x on Saturday and once on Thursday. Consistent attendance is required. Performance is during final class.

Musical Theatre KIDS ages 7-9 “Madagascar!”

This class concentrates on a combination of Broadway style dance technique & acting skills. Musical Theatre begins with Intro to Musical Theatre up to Level III where students put on a full Broadway Jr. Production. By the time they have done earlier levels of Musical Theatre and supported their training with dance and drama classes they are prepared for the Winter and Spring Shows as teens. Those students entering later still have a clear path for success in the productions and summer shows. A dance and/or theatre class is highly recommended in tandem with musical theatre training. This class is offered on 2 different days.

Performance Basics are required by the end of the session.

Freaky Friday Show Art Square

Musical Theatre PRE-TEEN ages 10-12 “Freaky Friday”

Explore this kid-friendly musical loaded with character work and song. This class concentrates on a combination of Broadway style dance technique & acting skills. Musical Theatre begins with Intro to Musical Theatre and on, through to the Footlight Fanatics and the Mainstage Musical where students put on a full Broadway Jr. or full-length Production. By the time they have done earlier levels of Musical Theatre and supported their training with dance and drama classes they are prepared for the Winter and Spring Shows as teens. Those students entering later still have a clear path for success in the productions and summer shows. A dance and/or theatre class is highly recommended in tandem with musical theatre training. Last class performance.

FOOTLIGHT FANATICS ages 9-15

Embark on an unforgettable journey to the Pride Lands by auditioning for “The Lion King Jr.” This is not just any audition; it’s an opportunity to be part of the magic, bringing Simba, Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, and all your favorite characters to life. Imagine the thrill of dancing to the rhythm of the African savanna, singing the iconic “Hakuna Matata,” and discovering the true meaning of the Circle of Life. Whether you’ve got the roar of a lion or the graceful moves of a gazelle, this audition is your ticket to join the circle and feel the love. Step into the spotlight, embrace the adventure, and let your talent shine in a production that promises to be a roaring success. The stage is set, the Pride Lands await, and your journey as a performer is about to begin – don’t miss out on the chance to be part of “The Lion King Jr.”!

Auditions will be held the first week of classes. Class meets 2x a week, Monday & Wed 5:30-7:00pm. Tuition $875.

A Jazz, Tap class or drama class is STRONGLY recommended to take in conjunction with Musical Theatre as it will greatly heighten each student’s success in the class. Culminates with 4 public perfomances. Students must enroll and will prepare a formal audition as part of the class. Class meets 2x a week. NO CLASSES: 1/15, 2/19, 2/21, 4/8, 4/10.
Tech week is: Sunday 4/28 through Thursday 5/2. Rehearsals may be as late as 9pm that week.
Performances: 5/3 at 6pm, 5/4 at 2pm & 6pm and 5/5 at 5pm

It’s time to unleash your inner Broadway star and audition for “Mean Girls: High School Edition”! Get ready to bring the iconic characters from North Shore High School to life on stage. Whether you’re a mathlete, an art freak, a burn book enthusiast, or just someone with a passion for performing, this is your chance to shine. Join us on this journey of laughter, sass, and girl power as we recreate the hilarious and relatable high school moments that made “Mean Girls” a cultural phenomenon. Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of the grool-est musical event in town. So bring your talents, attitude, and pink attire – let’s make this a totally fetch experience together! Audition for “Mean Girls” and let’s hit the stage with all the drama, wit, and fabulousness you’ve got!
