Princess Bride

In Online Acting for the Camera, students will learn the skills specific to telling a story on-camera as well as tips for auditioning and performing cold readings. Focusing on monologues and scene work from movies and TV such as Legally Blonde, The Princess Bride, Glee, and Modern Family, students will practice comedic timing, concentration, and listening, plus learn basic filmmaking terms and script interpretation.

Online Dungeons & Dragons Character Camp

Embark on an epic journey as we take a deep dive into the magical world of Dungeons and Dragons, the classic fantasy role playing game. Over three weeks, actors will explore three unique campaigns while using essential improvisational tools and have the chance to create their own character, train them, and see them grow on their journey. Actors will work on detailed backstory and character work, getting the opportunity to write their own victory speech and death speech. Some fun, in-character writing assignments will make the experience richer. Actors will get to choose their own costume and set pieces to enhance the ambiance. Unbounded creativity is encouraged!

Please note that during class players will be asked to use a device that can access Roll20 (a virtual game board)  as well as Zoom to play and communicate. A stable internet connection is necessary to access these programs.

Online Center Stage Dance Camp

Home Body

During Online Center Stage Dance Camp, dancers are guided by two professional artists and master instructors through a series of inspiring interactive Zoom classes and artistic prompts around the theme of Home, Self, and Connection. Dancers become the makers as they learn choreography techniques and create new, site specific works daily in their back yard, kitchen, and around their homes. The three-week camp culminates in an original, virtual performance of the work generated. Fun and rigorous daily group dance classes, small collaborative groups, and the sharing of independent work allow participants to connect with friends and peers in a creative and supportive online environment. All camp materials will be provided and porch delivered in a Spindrift School tote bag. Enrollment is limited to maximize instructor and camper engagement and is offered on a first come first served basis.

Online Actor’s Studio

As You Like It!

As You Like It

Be a part of an ensemble unlike any other! During this fast-paced performance camp, actors will work with a professional theatre artist and director to bring to life Shakespeare’s comedy, As You Like It for the virtual stage. The ensemble will explore comedic acting, Shakespeare’s language, physical theatre, TikTok videos, and more, to create a truly contemporary, online production to share with friends and family. The four hour camp day includes large and small group classes and rehearsals, camp breaks, and independent assignments. Actor’s Studio offers the chance to not just be in the play but to create it. Each actor will receive materials to create elements for use in the final performance, porch delivered in a Spindrift School tote. Once registered, you will be asked to submit a brief audition video by Friday, June 19 (text for the audition will be provided and does not need to be memorized.) Actors registering after June 19 will be asked to present a private audition the first day of camp. Enrollment is limited to maximize instructor and camper engagement and is offered on a first come first served basis.

Creative Songwriting!

Creative Songwriting

Learn to unlock your songwriting creativity through this online group music class! Creative Songwriting will give students an opportunity to create three songs throughout the three-week course. They will learn about different song structures and basic audio editing skills. No prior musical experience required. Ever dream of being part of the creative team that makes theatre happen? At Spindrift School, that behind the scene team is called the Stealth Crew and we’re training new recruits! Taught be working industry professionals, Tech Theatre Intensive students learn all aspects of show creation and production from theatre professionals in a fast-paced online environment. Daily sessions are conducted via the Zoom platform and include show specific theatre design, exploration of software for theatre design, and small group collaboration. Each week covers all areas of production – from directing to stage managing to running crew – and focusses on one design element: Costumes, Set Design, or Lighting. Take one week for a specific interest or all three for full Stealth Crew training! Tech Theatre Intensive alumni have found paid and internship opportunities at Spindrift School main stage productions and camps throughout the year. Laptop and stable internet connection required. Other materials will be provided and porch delivered in a Spindrift School tote bag. Enrollment is limited to maximize instructor and camper engagement and is offered on a first come first served basis.
