Frequently Asked Questions

We are learning to live with Covid. While we  recommend masking during our shows, masks are optional. Students may come masked or unmasked to class. We trust that families are diligent and caring and will self-isolate if students are ill or will test if they or family have had exposure.

A few addendums:

• Classes taught at our outreach locations will continue to follow whatever protocols are in place at each individual location.
• Private lessons will be left up to the discretion and comfort level of each individual instructor; please discuss masking options with your private instructor at your next lesson.

OUR REVISED COVID POLICIES FOR IN-PERSON CLASSES

• If a student is feeling unwell or displaying symptoms indicative of infection, DO NOT COME TO CAMPUS. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO ANY CLASS OR LESSON.
• If a student begins displaying symptoms during class, he/she will be isolated from the rest of the class and  his/her parents/guardians will be asked to pick up said student as soon as possible

IN CASE OF EXPOSURE WITHIN SPINDRIFT

Families will be notified immediately if their child has been in direct contact with an infected individual, and we will recommend testing.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY

Should an instructor suspect infection or exposure, SSPA will do its best to find a substitute, but reserves the right to cancel classes if no suitable and healthy alternatives are available. We will do our best to provide make-ups for any classes missed due to instructor illness, but also reserve the right to simply refund families for the amount of classes missed should rescheduling prove to be impossible.

We are Session based and generally follow the Pacifica School Schedule

Fall -12 week Session  starting at the end of August

Winter/Spring -20 week Session  starting after Winter Break

Summer - No Classes ( Only Camps) starting the week after schools are out

a) Be on time. This teaches your student the importance of punctuality, and shows them that you respect the time of everyone else in the class. 

b) The youngest students will often have tears or anxiety in the first few weeks. This is normal. Dance teachers are trained to get children on task quickly. It is not uncommon to have a few dancers that need to be held the first month of class! The best way to ensure success is to assure them they are going to have fun. It might sound counter-intuitive, but if you leave as quickly as possible you are teaching them that you trust the environment where you are leaving them, and they will pick up on your confidence. We recognize that this is hard for parents as well as young dancers!

c) Encourage your child to use the bathroom before class. Teachers will gladly take them if they do need to go during class, but this can be a disruption.

d) The first few weeks of dance classes for older children often include curriculum review and getting everyone comfortable with new classes and new teachers. This will relax the students and helps teachers ensure that students are properly placed in correct classes. If dancers have been placed into classes that do not fit them, teachers will let parents know and make adjustments

If a student will be missing 2 or more consecutive weeks of class, please contact the office. The office staff will relay the information to the instructors. There are no refunds for missed classes. 

Instructors can be contacted via email. teacher@spindriftschool.org It might be difficult to speak with instructors between classes. Class schedules are very tight, and our instructors would like to give your questions and concerns the proper attention. You may also email info@spindriftschool.org with a request to pass on to a teacher.

Only for Preschool classes with permission of Instructor. 

OUR SESSIONS: Fall Session is 10 to 12 weeks. Winter/Spring Session is between 18 and 20 weeks, and for this session, payment may be split with half at first class and half at the midway point 3/31.

Credit cards are not automatically charged upon registration. Upon completion of enrollment you must log into the customer portal and choose “make a payment”. If not paid upon registration, payment will be charged by our office at the end of open enrollment for classes (2-3 weeks into a session) or one the first day of camp for our February, Spring, and Summer camps, unless a payment plan arrangement has been made in advance with our office.
